2) Software - Operating Systems (i.e. Microsoft Windows) and Applications Software (i.e. Microsoft Office, Norton Anti-Virus, Adobe Photoshop)

Most hardware failures can be easily diagnosed and repaired whereas Software issues are more usually resolved by uninstalling the affected program and reinstalling it, this is a far more challenging task as you need to back-up all the data before you begin.
